in our eagerness to woo tourists and develope m'cca, many are stripping
away the very elements that attracted visitors to m'cca in the first place.
every visitor i've spoken to loves m'cca for its uniqueness - simply put
"it's not too big (the town), it's not too small, nor is it too slow (the
pace of life) or too fast". we need to constantly remind ourselves not
to remove the uniqueness of the m'cca culture, people and sights. we do
not need to transform m'cca into another homogenous bar and night spot-filled
town, no different from any other towns. that would be the worst tragedy
to befall m'cca - to lose the identity formed after hundreds of years in
the making. we should highlight and preserve the old and not create the
new.
