Melaka New Chinatown is located in the historical state of Melaka, a state within the Federation of Malaysia in South-east Asia.
On 7th. July 2008, Melaka historical core district has been included in UNESCO World Heritage City List.
This historical state is about 120 km south east of Kuala Lumpur and about 250 km. North-west of Singapore and is easily accessible by road via the North-South highway.

The old Regal Hotel which was bought over by a Singaporean hotelier and refurbished last year has re-opened as Hallmark Inn since 20th. January 2011.
The weekday rates begin at Rm 120.00 per night with the rates being slightly higher during weekends.
Guests can park their cars at the rear of the hotel with the entrance located at the front of the hotel. This car park can accommodate about 20 cars.
Currently, the is no entry or exit from Jalan Kee Ann.
PONGGOL CELEBRATIONS IN KAMPUNG CHITTY
MALACCA: It will be a lively Ponggal at Kampung Chitty, one of the oldest Indian communities in the country, as it keeps the centuries-old tradition alive through four days of ceremonies and prayers.
The Chitty or Indian Peranakans are a distinctive group of Indian people found mainly in Malacca and Singapore and speak a mix of Malay and their mother tongue. Their village in Gajah Berang has some 200 residents.
Village headman K. Arunasalam Pillay, 52, said the Chitty community’s Ponggal differs slightly from the other Tamil communities in the country.

With the Year of the Rabbit fast approaching, workers of a private advertising company in Pengkalan Rama are busy putting the final touches to the Guan Di lion's head that is 6m in height and the body which is 10m in length.

Beware Of Fake Car Parking Coupons
MELAKA, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- The Melaka City Council (MBMB) Saturday reminded the motorists to be wary of fake car parking coupons.
Secretary Azmi Hussain said they should be wary of cheap coupons adding MBMB did not appoint individuals to sell them.
"MBMB found the fake coupons to be nearly as good as the real ones except that the serial numbers are in its system," he said in a statement here.
Motorists should also be wary of individuals who distribute name cards bearing the MBMB logo and fake telephone numbers.

SAAG RR Infra Limited Secures US$78 Million EPCC Contract
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- SAAG RR Infra Limited through its overseas subsidiary, OGS Asiapac Ltd, has secured an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contract worth US$78 million from Mrails Tram (Melaka) Sdn Bhd (Mrails).
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the subsidiary of SAAG Consolidated (M) Bhd said, the contract is for the 40 kilometres Tramway in Melaka project.

CM: Pulau Melaka to house 85m-tall substitute giant wheel from China soon

MALACCA: A new ferris wheel to replace the Eye On Malaysia will be erected on Pulau Melaka by a local private company this year.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam confirmed that Melaka Wonderland Sdn Bhd has agreed to source for a 85m-tall ferris wheel from China and are currently negotiating its purchase.
“The state has also decided to make Pulau Melaka the location for the new ferris wheel.
JALAN HANG TUAH BRIDGE HAS BEEN COMPLETED

With 2010 coming to an end, it is good to note that Jalan Hang Tuah Bridge has been completed. Only some minor works such as the foot paths and decorative lamps are being completed.
The 3 lanes road over the bridge has been tarred and all vehicles can cross over this bridge with ease. Before that only half the bridge is being used by vehicles.
