Melaka New Chinatown is located in the historical state of Melaka, a state within the Federation of Malaysia in South-east Asia.

On 7th. July 2008, Melaka historical core district has been included in UNESCO World Heritage City List.

This historical state is about 120 km south east of Kuala Lumpur and about 250 km. North-west of Singapore and is easily accessible by road via the North-South highway.

The month of August each year is a special month for all Malaysians. At the stroke of midnight of 31st.August 1956, Malaysia or Malaya then, became an independent country. We received our Independence from Great Britain after years of being a colony of Great Britain.

FREEHOLD LAND IN JALAN KEE ANN & JALAN PASAR BARU FOR SALES

The freehold land that used to be the Old Malacca Central Market and some surrounding land was placed in a public auction on 21st. July 2008.

Covering about 123,000 sq. ft and in different parcels, the asking price for the land area was MYR 8.5 Million only. Since the Old Malacca Central Market was demolished in late 1980s, the land has not been developed to achieve its potential.

Melaka and Georgetown Listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site from 7th. July 2008

All Malaccans are honoured and happy that UNESCO and the world has finally recognised the importance and value of Melaka in her historical past and multi-cultural citizens living especially in Melaka in particular and Malaysia in general.

PASAR BARU BRIDGE AND HANG TUAH BRIDGE TO BE RENOVATED OR REPLACED

1st. July 2008

The 4th. Phase or Final Phase of the Melaka River Beautification Works is being carried out. This final phase will involve the renovation or replacement of some of the bridges along the Melaka River.

For Melaka New Chinatown, the bridges affected are the Pasar Baru Pedestrian Bridge (to be renovated), Hang Tuah Bridge (to be demolished and replaced with a new bridge that does not have piles into the river which impede waterflow) and the pedestrian bridge from former Cathay cinema on to the "Melaka Eye" and "Pirate ship" entertainment area.

HISTORIC MELAKA LISTING IN UNESCO HERITAGE ON 7TH. JULY 2008

The Historic City of Melaka and Georgetown, Penang submitted to UNESCO for the Heritage Listing under "Historic Cities of Melaka and Georgetown in the Straits of Melaka" and is scheduled to be announced on 7th. July 2008.

Melaka wish of having a monorail service is becoming a reality when the ground breaking ceremony of the monorail project besides the banks of Melaka River was held recently.

Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam officially launched the monorail project which will link Taman Rempah, near the Hang Jebat bridge to Hang Tuah Bridge at Jalan Hang Tuah.

Aldy Hotel Chinatown,located at the junction of Jalan Bunga Raya and Jalan Munshi Abdullah in Melaka New Chinatown has opened for business since mid December 2007. With only 16 renovated rooms, Aldy Chinatown has a trendy check-in and lobby, painted in bright red and black. There is a nightly band and a cool place to unwind at the lobby.
