MELAKA LARGEST JUSCO OFFICIALLY OPENED ON 4TH. MAY 2010

MELAKA, May 4 (Bernama) -- AEON Co (M) Bhd, a leading retailer with an established chain of merchandise stores, plans to spread its wing to the East Coast, Sabah and Sarawak.

Its managing director Nagahisa Oyama said there were invitations and demands to set up new shopping centres in these places as the company with 18 shopping complexes was now established in the West Coast, including the Klang Valley.

Malaysia Propose Tourism Package To Include Unesco Recognised Heritage Sites

PHNOM PENH, April 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has proposed that travel agents in ASEAN countries, offer tourists from around the world a selection of an unified tourism package which comprise a trail of heritage sites, recognized by Unesco.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the heritage trail can start from Siem Reap in Cambodia, Luang Prabang in Laos, George Town in Penang, the city of Melaka and onwards to Borobodur in Yogyakarta.

Melaka Malay Sultanate Begins In 1278, Claims Research Team

MELAKA, 17 April (Bernama) -- The Melaka Malay Sultanate began in 1278 and not in the 1400s, as discovered by a research team appointed by the Melaka government.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the year (1278) was chosen based or the Raja Bongsu version of the Malay Annals or the "Sulalatus al-Salatin" (Raffles 18).

FORMER HANG TUAH BRIDGE HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED

For me and all Malaccans who celebrated the recent Chinese New Year of the Tiger in Malacca, you will have noticed that the old Hang Tuah Bridge, next to the former Cathay Cinema, has already been demolished.

The old bridge had piles piled in the Melaka River which narrows the water flow of the Melaka River.

From our sources, the new Hang Tuah Bridge will be a suspension bridge i.e. no piles will be constructed inside the Melaka River. By doing so, the water will flow smoothly and boats can easily pass below the bridge.

Melaka's Biggest Shopping Centre Opens

MELAKA, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Melaka's biggest shopping centre, the RM500 million AEON Bandaraya Melaka, opened its doors Friday.

The soft opening was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

The shopping complex, spread over approximately 126,162 sq m (1,358,000 sq ft), was originally scheduled for opening on Dec 17 last year. But it was rescheduled due to a gas explosion mishap at its food court area, three days before the opening, which killed two workers and injured 20 others.

Ong launches CNY carnival in Malacca

MALACCA: More than 10,000 people gathered along Jalan Kubu and Jonker Walk here for the launching of the state’s month-long Chinese New Year carnival by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

The ceremony on Saturday night was made more auspicious with Ong given the honour of inscribing the Chinese character Wang – meaning king – onto the frame of the largest lion head in the country to mark the start of festivities here.

Jusco Melaka Store, the largest in Malaysia,will open her doors on 5th.February 2010. The opening had to be postponed due to an unfortunate incident in December 2009.

Located just besides Tesco Melaka at Pringgit, Malaccans and visitors will benefit greatly by making Melaka a destination for shoppers. As it just before the Chinese New Year of the Tiger in February, Jusco Melaka is gearing up for her opening.
